Land Trust Purchases Property Along Factory Creek on Lady’s Island For a Park

The Open Land Trust, in partnership with Beaufort County and the City of Beaufort purchased land along Factory Creek for creation of a passive public park and a dock for fishing and crabbing. The property consists of four parcels located at the base of the Woods Memorial Bridge east of the Lady’s Island Boat Ramp. There are four buildings on the site which will eventually be razed to accommodate the park.

County Council considers $20 million referendum for land conservation

A proposal to ask Beaufort County voters whether they’re willing to spend another $20 million on land preservation is expected to be up for first-round approval at today’s Beaufort County Council meeting. The referendum question would be added to Beaufort County ballots in the 2012 general election next November.
